Tempahan Sugee Dari KB

Alhamdulillah, dapat order dari customer di KB. Deliver via Pos Laju. Mula2 ke Pejabat Pos cawangan DD, lepas timbang berat bungkusan, nak buat payment, tak boleh coz offline. Option dia, samaada tinggal kat situ, then bila dah boleh online, dia akan deliver or terus ke cawangan lain. Fikir2 ok jugak kalau tinggal, coz akan deliver jugak. Tapi bila dapat tahu yang most probably boleh online hanya lepas 2 hari! Terus tak jadi nak tinggal. Baik la ke cawangan lain.

So, terus berkejar ke cawangan Sg. Buloh, dalam bangunan The Store. Sampai2, orang dah ramai. Tapi Alhamdulillah untuk Pos Laju ada counter khas, tak perlu amik nombor. Lepas buat payment, settle. In a jiffy! Syukur Alhamdulillah, Allah mudahkan urusan....

Got a message from a friend at KB, asking for sugee. Told her that I live in KL. So she asked me to post it coz she wanted to taste it... to be honest, this is the first time I deliver an order by post. So, I need to wrap it carefully to avoid any damage. Syukur I was able to deliver it right before we fly to Kuching.

New! Chocolate Crispy.... Yummy...

Time nak buat Open House hari tu tak sempat nak buat sugee. Tak best la kalau takder biskut raya. Geledah dapur, jumpa bubble rice. Tetiba jer dapat idea nak buat chocolate crispy ni. Dah terlanjur terbeli bubble rice ni (masa beli tu tak tahu lagi nak buat apa... huhuhu...), so reka2 jer la... nampak kurang mengancam kan? Tapi kan, rasa dia MARVELOUS!! Sekejap jer dah habis... budak2 suka, mak ayah budak pun suka.... Ramai kawan2 yang mintak resipi.... Alhamdulillah dapat share ngan kawan2.... boleh la depa buat untuk anak2 masing2 nanti (^^)...

Digital Scale

One of the most important tools to have in your kitchen is a Scale.... to me, I prefer a digital one coz it gives a correct measure...

Unfortunately, mine was broken few weeks ago, when my baking project was halfway through... huhuhu.... had to get a new one on the dot! didn't even get a chance to google (for the price)....

Went to my fav baking shop... there were 3 brands (forgotten the other 2).... according to the shopkeeper, the other 2 were known as quality brands.... but unfortunately, its max capacity was only 2kg (as I recall).... I was looking for larger...

So, I decided to get this one for the price of RM75.00, max capacity 5 kg, a large bowl and a year warranty.... while the other 2 cost more than a hundred but max only 2 kg capacity with a small bowl :(

Camry brand.... max 5 kg

As a safety precaution, I keep my scale at a safe place.... out of reach from the kids (^^)

Alhamdulillah, ahad lepas dapat tempahan sugee dari adik kat KSKB. Nak jadi 'agent' katanya (^^) So, semalam operasi menyiapkan tempahan dari adik Naz. Dan dah dibawa dengan selamatnya ke kolej lepas Tarawih malam semalam. Thanx yer Naz. Semoga bisnes berjalan dengan lancar!

My New Sealer

Everyone knows what this is.... it's a 'Sealer'. We use it to seal plastic bags. Was actually looking for a Hand Sealer, but hubby said better get this one (big one) rather than a small one coz a bigger one is always a lot better - it's able to seal large plastic bag. I bought this at my favorite baking shop.

It comes in 2 different types/colors - full steel and half steel half plastic. Mine is half-half. It costs less than RM100. The full steel is green, which I think is cuter. But unfortunately, it was out of stock. That one costs more than RM150.

If you're interested, but don't know where to get one, look HERE. Or just go to a near baking store and ask for it.

New Sticker Design!

My own design! Have been planning to design my own stickers for months... finally! Have it printed last week, but don't know why, the result was quite different from the original design. Need to test-print first before printing the second batch.

Sugar Paste

Besides buttercream, ganache or frosting, most bakers prefer to use sugar paste or gum paste fondant in cake decorating, I know I do... it's much easier to decorate a cake or cupcake coz it's less messy and you'll get lots of idea with it. It's just like playing with Playdoh... it's FunTime!! (^_^)

Among many recipes, I like the one I got from a book of mine (Kraf Gula by Yasmin Sanusi, RM30.00) coz my attempt was a big succeed, even the first time I made it.

Here's the recipe (translated) :

17 g gelatine

1/4 cup water (room temperature)

1/2 cup melted glucose

30 g shortening

22 g glycerine

1 k icing (sifted)

- Pour in the gelatine into the water (let stand).

- Then double boil it, stir till dissolved.

- Add in glucose and stir.

- Add in shortening and stir.

- Off the heat, add in glycerine. Let stand for 5 min.

- Put the icing in a mixing bowl, make a hole in the middle. Pour in the mixture and mix well till it becomes a dough. It should make 1 k of sugar paste.

* If the dough is too soft, add in some icing (so make sure you have extra, just in case). If it's too hard, add in some water.

Color as you like. Avoid from using the usual food color coz it will soften the dough. Better to use color paste, and use a toothpick instead of pouring in the color on the dough. You can learn lots about coloring sugar paste or decorating a cake with it or even making a sugar paste figurine from Youtube. Enjoy!!

Malic Acid

Not very familiar with Malic Acid or Mono Acid. But recently, when I was about to make some jelly, I realized that the small packet of Malic Acid that came with the Konnyaku Jelly mix was gone missing! I've looked everywhere, but couldn't find it. So, I had to get some from the store, otherwise, I would just have to waste the jelly mix, and that wouldn't be nice.

At the store, I asked Alice, the shop owner, about the 'ingredient'. She told me that other than adding to the jelly mixture, it can also be used in tart filling mixture eg. pineapple tart filling. Oh I see... but what else?? I don't think I'm gonna be needing it in anything else other than jelly... have to start digging... won't wanna waste it... or maybe I can use it in my pudding??...

For those who love to decorate, this thing is her 'best buddy'. There are many shapes and sizes, and this set offers you just the thing. But if you want to have a different set, you can always get it loose, only at a higher price though.

If you are a newbie like me, you might need to refer to a book or just attend a class to learn how to use it. For the time being, I just refer to my 'cake decorating' book or video (youtube). You can always google for it. The best so far (for me) is the video by HowdiniGuru.

Paste

One thing that is common to all bakers, PASTE. Food paste, not 'copy paste' (^^). Having various type of flavors at home is a compulsory to me. It can be used in chocolate making, cupcakes, cakes or even ice cream. There are many flavors available - orange, pandan, blueberry, strawberry, chocolate, mango etc.

I prefer food paste rather than food coloring, coz it comes with the 'taste', not just color. This is how it looks like...
